Similar to the Spectacle Blind discussed above, pipe system maintenance may need a temporary replacement of a Ring Spacer with a Spade. Once all bolts are loosened and half of them are temporarily removed, the Spade or Spacer can be inserted. Pressure (barg) multiplied by diameter (inches) and divided by ten
Pressure is the maximum pressure that the system can achieve.
Diameter is the size of the spacer in inches.
Example: 8 x 12 / 10 - thickness of spacer = 9.6 mm.
Always endeavor to use spacer thicknesses that comply with ASME B16.5.
