The two parts of the spectacle blind flange can be separated for usage. The blind section of the spectacle flange is known as a spade or paddle, and it is used to obstruct the flow of fluid in the piping system.
The spectacle flange opening element is known as a spacer or ring spacer; when it is installed between the two flanges, it does not obstruct fluid flow. To make it easier to manage, the spader or spacer should have a steel hand.
It is used for pipeline systems that do not require continuous maintenance for large-scale pipelines. It can be hundreds of pounds, depending on the diameter of the pipe and the pressure grade.
To reduce insignificant pipeline load, two parts are typically divided. Specifically, spade and spacer are used instead of spectacle blind flange.
Flat face spade blind flanges are manufactured from metal rings of various materials and welded handles of various shapes. A spacer's job is to allow liquids or gas to flow through the pipeline via the flange.
The ASME standard primarily defines three types of spades and ring spacer flanges: raised face, flat face, and ring joint. The spacer ring is inserted between the two flanges, with a gasket at each end.
The spade is installed in the pipeline between two flanges that are bolted together. The spade is used to open pipelines, whereas the paddle blind is used to stop or close pipelines.
Using a spacer ensures that the screw or bolt cannot be driven completely in. The hollow body of a spacer is designed to allow the screw shaft to travel completely through it before entering the material surface.
Spade ring spacers are also called pipe spacers. It is used between flanges to close gaps or arrange them properly. It is sometimes tapered and always custom machined to specific measurements.

Every Standards have clearly requirements for steel flanges’ marking style, usually the marking words include seller’s Logo, buyer’s Logo (OEM), standard number, flange’s type, flange’s pressure, flange’s size, flange’s material, place of origin, heat number and other words for convenient to trace. If the flanges repaired by welding, it must mark on flanges showing this flange repared by welding. If the flange’s dimensions (OD, ID, PCD, Thickness, Holes number, Holes diameter, Tolerance etc) are different with the normal standard, it also must mark on flanges where it is different with normal ones. Another important place is heat number marking, it is the tracing base for every piece flange, and from the heat number we can trace to the beginning of raw material import.
