WNRF Flanges

The weld neck flange is a type of pipe fitting that connects two pipes. Weld neck flags are also known as WNRF flanges. When linked, the weld neck flanges form a tight seal. This type of pipe fitting is commonly employed in applications where high pressures or temperatures must be confined, such as an oil refinery.

The Purpose of WNRF Flanges

WNRF flanges are industrial pipe fittings that have an integrated raised face. Its aim is to offer additional strength and stiffness in order to exert greater pressure against the inside wall of a pressurized vessel or container, such as water tanks and storage silos. They are used for both high-pressure (up to 20,000 psi) and low-pressure (up to 150 psi).

WNRF Flanges Working Process

A WNRF flange is a fitting that connects two sections of piping on the same level. When you gaze down into the entrance, it resembles an inverted "U". To function effectively, these fittings must meet industry-specified tightness and durability requirements. Weld neck flanges can be manufactured of stainless steel (cast or forged), carbon steel, or alloy steel.

After being measured with a gauge, the flange is inspected to ensure that all of its dimensions are within the size and shape specifications. Weld neck flanges acquire their name from the short, stubby tube that protrudes from them, known as a "neck."

When installing two sections of piping, the first step is to install a gasket on each side where they will meet. The flange then glides over the junction while it is still warm and soft from being heated in the welding machine or other manufacturing process. To generate enough force to form a secure seal, the neck is hammered into one of the two components.

The final step is to clean it up and apply some heat for finishing, while also ensuring that there are no sharp edges or projecting areas on the flange that could cause injury. Although these fittings have several advantages over other types, they are not suitable for all applications. They are more expensive than some other choices, thus they may only be employed when situations necessitate the creation or maintenance of a highly specialized seal.

WNRF Flanges Marking

Every Standards have clearly requirements for steel flanges’ marking style, usually the marking words include seller’s Logo, buyer’s Logo (OEM), standard number, flange’s type, flange’s pressure, flange’s size, flange’s material, place of origin, heat number and other words for convenient to trace. If the flanges repaired by welding, it must mark on flanges showing this flange repared by welding. If the flange’s dimensions (OD, ID, PCD, Thickness, Holes number, Holes diameter, Tolerance etc) are different with the normal standard, it also must mark on flanges where it is different with normal ones. Another important place is heat number marking, it is the tracing base for every piece flange, and from the heat number we can trace to the beginning of raw material import.
